The Case for Blue-State Secession
It’s the only way to ensure democracy and equal justice, not just for blue-state residents but for citizens in all 50 states.

I'm convinced the differences between the left and right are irreconcilable. If it was a marriage the only recommendation would be divorce.

I've always scoffed at the notion of succession. That was until I read this piece in the Nation.

I agree with the writer, that it's the 2nd best choice. But I can't see how this gets better. January 6th was just a prelude. Recent reporting is that Trump did in fact instruct the DOJ to throw the election. Kentucky Republican Senator Rand Paul tweeted a video, instructing people to "resist", ignore the CDC.

I think the Republicans (Trumpers) are dangerous. I think they really do want authoritarian rule. That means ruling over us.

It's time we stop pretending both sides get along. We don't. We're in a cold-cultural-war. Something has to give. If the Dems take control in 2024 or even by the 2022 mid-terms, the right will be outraged. They'll surely try to reject the election results. Then what?

It's all such a mess. So let's break up. Red States and Blue States. Right now I can't see another solution.
